MOVIE NEWS – Despite hefty state funding and an intense media push, the new Ákos biopic, Stay Human – The Ákos Story, barely attracted audiences on its opening weekend, with only 6,038 tickets sold.
The release was accompanied by considerable media attention, not least after M1 mistakenly swapped photos of Kovács Ákos and Dobrády Ákos. Still, the buzz failed to translate into attendance: the first weekend brought only 6,038 admissions and about HUF 15.1 million in revenue.
The result is particularly awkward, given that the production received HUF 326 million in state support and was shown in 70 cinemas. Ákos, often called

failed to rally his fanbase – even political backing couldn’t secure success this time.
The weekend chart was topped by Black Phone 2 with 15,753 viewers, followed by Keanu Reeves’s Good Fortune (9,284). One Battle After Another landed third, while Ákos’s film finished fifth, ahead of several international titles.
