It’s not just your console or PC: a fresh Azure breakdown is disrupting Obsidian’s big day, leaving loads of players unable to start the spacefaring RPG.
Today was slated as the broad release for Obsidian Entertainment’s science-fiction RPG The Outer Worlds 2, published by Xbox Game Studios.
It’s the studio’s third arrival this year, following the fantasy RPG Avowed in February and the early-access debut of survival follow-up Grounded 2 in July.
Players who bought the Premium Edition have been hands-on for a few days already, and the standard edition was supposed to open for everyone — at least on the schedule.
In reality, a wide Azure outage has knocked core services offline, preventing many users from purchasing or accessing games on Xbox — and that includes The Outer Worlds 2.
Obsidian confirmed on Bluesky that the incident is impacting its titles alongside other games.
Due to an ongoing Azure service outage, The Outer Worlds 2 may be temporarily unavailable to purchase or install on Xbox Series X|S, the Xbox app on PC, and with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass.
