Concord: Was the Fan Revival Short-Lived?

Concord Delta will disappear as quickly as it appeared. Did fans step on Sony’s toes?

Concord wasn’t very good. In terms of development time and money, it was one of the biggest black holes in the history of the gaming industry, collapsing into dust a few weeks after its release after eight years of development. However, a few fans revived it against all odds. If that piques your interest, it’s too late; the party’s already over. We may not even get a chance to try out the fan-made Concord Delta.

According to The Game Post, Sony has reportedly begun cracking down on videos of the undead hero shooter game. Several videos uploaded by the team behind the resurrection received DMCA notices from MarkScan, a digital rights enforcement company that has worked with Sony in the past. The project’s developers announced on Discord that they have decided to suspend invitations for the time being due to the worrying legal action. While Sony has not yet taken direct action against the team or its fan revival, this suggests that the studio is monitoring the situation, and the project may not survive much longer.

Being a Concord fan has never been easy, but watching the game’s revival get shut down is like watching someone get kicked while they’re down, then set on fire after they get back up. Sadly, it’s fitting that Concord‘s revival would come to such a quick, cruel end—if this really is the end. It most certainly will be. For Sony, Concord is simply a stain on this console generation, and the company doesn’t want us to remember it.

So far, Sony hasn’t really been able to gain a serious foothold in the live service genre. Helldivers II was published by Sony, but not developed in-house, so it doesn’t count. Much could depend on Bungie’s next game, the Marathon reboot.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
