No Secret Cut Exists, Yet Nearly 300,000 Fans Want More from Stranger Things

MOVIE NEWS – A growing online movement claims the final season of Stranger Things was once much longer than what audiences saw. Nearly 300,000 people have signed a petition demanding the release of allegedly deleted scenes, but now an actor involved in the show says the theory has no basis in reality.

Randy Havens, who plays Professor Scott Clarke on Stranger Things, has categorically denied the existence of any so-called “Snyder Cut” or extended version of Netflix’s hit supernatural series’ fifth and final season. His comments follow the viral spread of a far-fetched theory about supposed deleted scenes involving key characters, a claim that has already pushed more than 290,000 people to sign a Change.org petition calling for the footage to be released.

The campaign, launched by Wennii J., argues that fans want to see unreleased Stranger Things material. According to the petition’s summary, many viewers believe the episodes originally contained more content than what ultimately aired. The text states that “many of us are disappointed,” that “it’s clear there is widespread dissatisfaction with this volume,” and that the clues and information hinted at by cast members in interviews do not align with what was shown on screen. Supporters say they want the series to leave behind a meaningful legacy, rather than being remembered as a production that faltered due to weak writing.

A few months ago, it emerged that Netflix had asked for the episodes of a western series to be shortened, a decision that ultimately led to the departure of its original creator. This has fueled speculation that similar cuts could have affected Stranger Things. Still, it would be strange if such a situation applied to the conclusion of Netflix’s flagship series. At the same time, it is common practice in television production for scenes to be removed because they disrupt pacing, feel redundant, or simply help trim a show whose episodes already approach feature-length runtimes.

Havens, who was present during the filming of the final episodes, nonetheless stressed that what viewers saw was the definitive version: “There is no ‘Snyder Cut’ of the series; please don’t believe everything any idiot says on the internet”, he said, as quoted by NVME. Whether this statement will be enough to put an end to the campaign remains to be seen. With requests addressed to Netflix and the Duffer brothers nearing 300,000 signatures, it would not be surprising if, much like what happened with Game of Thrones, calls for a full season remake soon begin to surface.

The Worst-Rated Episode of the Series

The second volume of the final season has clearly sparked negative reactions among a portion of the audience. In particular, the episode titled “The Bridge” has become the lowest-rated entry in the series on IMDb, currently sitting at just 5.5 – even if viewers do not all criticize it for the same reasons. The contrast with the strong reception of the first part is striking, suggesting that the build-up to the final confrontation with Vecna failed to meet the high expectations set by earlier episodes.
