Although Capcom’s game doesn’t run particularly well on PC — we wrote about this in last year’s news — the Japanese company doesn’t seem to care.
On the Famiboards forum, Chinese data miners working on Monster Hunter found the menu for the planned local multiplayer mode for the Nintendo Switch 2 and shared two images of it. The first image is unclear, but the second image clearly says “Nintendo Switch 2” in Latin letters, so it’s the important one. Monster Hunter Wilds is currently only available on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. Therefore, it’s clear that Capcom is working on a Nintendo Switch 2 port.
However, as we recently reported, the public is skeptical that Capcom can pull off the impossible because, no matter how you look at it, converting Monster Hunter Wilds to the Nintendo Switch 2 seems impossible. We must take into account that the Switch 2 consumes 19W of power in handheld mode, which will be a daunting task for Japanese developers. No one believed The Witcher 3 Complete Edition would be available on Nintendo Switch, but it happened. CD Projekt RED’s follow-up game, Cyberpunk 2077 Complete Edition, was one of the launch titles for the Nintendo Switch 2. What’s more, the entire game was crammed onto a 64 GB cartridge!
From here, Capcom will have to convince the audience. This will not be an easy task, to say the least. Of course, the Japanese company will not officially announce the port. However, this also suggests that the next Nintendo Direct may be held shortly. As we reported today, another game has been rated for the Switch 2 by PEGI, the European age rating committee.
All we can do now is wait until official confirmation arrives.
