Avowed: Major Birthday Update and PlayStation 5 Port! [VIDEO]

Obsidian Entertainment’s RPG has been unexpectedly announced for PlayStation 5, with the port arriving very soon.

Microsoft made a surprise appearance during the New Game+ Showcase, where it revealed that Avowed will launch on PlayStation 5 on February 17. The game originally released on PC and Xbox Series on February 18, 2025, making the PS5 version part of its first anniversary celebration and another step in Microsoft’s multi-platform strategy.

Pre-orders are already live on the PlayStation Store. The Standard Edition is priced at $50, while the Premium Edition costs $60. The Premium Edition includes a digital artbook and soundtrack, two armor sets for the player character, and eight companion skins. A $10 Premium Upgrade is also available for those who wish to upgrade from the Standard Edition later.

The pre-order bonus is the Emperor’s Feast, a pack of five royal dishes that restore health and mana while temporarily boosting player attributes, offering an early-game advantage. The items include Darkest Rauataian Chocolate Cookie, Candied Nuts, Wild Mushroom Stew, Roasted Chicken, and Paradisan Trout Pie.

Avowed is listed on the PlayStation Store with the PlayStation 5 Pro Enhanced label. While details have not yet been disclosed, it is expected that the game will look and perform best on PlayStation 5 Pro.

The game will also receive a substantial free anniversary update across all platforms. This update adds three new playable races (Amowin, Oralin, and Dwarf), the quarterstaff weapon type, new Ranger and Fighter abilities, an arachnophobia accessibility mode, expanded character customization options, improvements to photo mode, and various equipment, progression, and stability updates. New Game+ allows players to carry over all abilities and endgame gear, along with new random enemy modifiers.

Avowed launches on PlayStation 5 on February 17.
