Resident Evil Requiem: A Flood of New Details as the Release Gets Closer

Capcom is teaming up with Porsche and Hamilton for Resident Evil 9, and it has also announced the game for yet another platform.

In Resident Evil Requiem, FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft and legendary DSO agent Leon Kennedy take the spotlight as dual protagonists, delivering a distinctive blend of death-defying action and chilling survival horror. Both characters will be playable in first-person view for deeper immersion and in third-person view for a more dynamic action feel, with players able to switch perspectives at any time.

Leon, a veteran of both close-quarters combat and firearms, is investigating a string of suspicious deaths. As he navigates an increasingly lethal situation, he can fight with various weapons and perform melee maneuvers using a brand-new hatchet. Players will refine Leon’s skillset by timing moves to parry enemy attacks, flipping the situation by striking back with a chainsaw taken from an enemy, and unleashing thrilling finishing moves to deliver the final blow.

Grace begins her struggle for survival inside a zombie-infested sanatorium, where careful judgment is required to decide which threats to confront and which to avoid. Limited resources and carrying capacity force life-or-death choices throughout the game. By obtaining a special device, Grace can create vital items from infected blood, opening up more varied offensive strategies. The Requiem assault revolver is a unique, high-powered custom weapon that will likely serve as a last resort. With ammunition scarce, will you fire immediately, or save those precious rounds for the horrors still to come?

The zombies roaming the game have lost their minds, yet some appear locked into routines from their lives before death: a chef obsessed with cooking, a singer who refuses to stop singing, a janitor endlessly polishing mirrors. Can these behaviors be exploited to outmaneuver them? The key word tying everything together is Elpis: the death of Grace’s mother, Alyssa Ashcroft, Grace’s own past, and the storyline connected to Leon. It is up to players to unravel the mystery and uncover the truth behind the events that have been revealed.

Players can choose from multiple difficulty settings depending on how they want the horror-action balance to feel. Casual mode offers aim assist, higher HP, and reduced enemy durability. Standard (Classic) turns up the tension by requiring Ink Ribbons for every save while playing as Grace, forcing strategic thinking not only in resource management, but also in deciding when saving is worth it.

Resident Evil Requiem will also be available on GeForce Now on February 27. Those who purchase the game via Steam or the Epic Games Store will be able to play through GeForce Now even on lower-end PCs. With GeForce Now-supported mobile devices and TVs, Resident Evil Requiem can be enjoyed virtually anywhere. A separate GeForce Now subscription is required. Ahead of its worldwide launch, the game is being optimized across a wide range of PC configurations, and high-end PC players will be able to take advantage of Nvidia’s cutting-edge features, including DLSS 4 and path tracing effects that boost performance and enhance image quality.

A collaboration with historic watchmaker Hamilton has also been announced, featuring two stunning models designed to closely replicate the watches worn by Leon and Grace in the game, with impressive attention to detail. The Khaki Field Auto Chrono (Leon) and Pan Europ Automatic (Grace) will go on sale on Friday, February 27, the same day Resident Evil Requiem launches, and will be extremely limited worldwide to just 2,000 units. Also revealed is a lightning-fast partnership with Porsche, the legendary automaker that has captivated car enthusiasts for decades. A one-of-a-kind Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT was built using complex 3D printing technology to perfectly align with the game’s signature dark atmosphere. Designed around the core themes of performance and survival, this custom SUV appears in-game as Leon’s vehicle – a legendary ride for a legendary character.

1/6 scale figures of Grace and Leon will be available starting this fall, with options to purchase them individually or as a set. They are designed to match figures included with previous Collector’s Editions, forming a cohesive display collection. The Resident Evil franchise’s 30th anniversary will also be celebrated with special Resident Evil Symphony of Legacy orchestral concerts across Japan, North America, and Europe later this year.

Resident Evil Requiem will launch on February 27 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. GeForce Now will receive the game on the same day.
