Nintendo Switch 2: Has a New Model Been Leaked on the Big N’s Website?

In this case, Nintendo can’t threaten lawyers or have things deleted because the company itself made the mistake!

Nintendo used to be one of the most secretive gaming companies and took a hard line against leakers. This led to the long-running joke that the company sent ninjas after them. However, in recent years, a lot of information about the company’s systems and games has leaked before official announcements. For example, the Nintendo Switch 2 was widely known long before its official unveiling and release last year.

After so many leaks, one might think that the Japanese company has solved the problem and tightened secrecy regarding future releases. However, this does not seem to be the case. A possible new Nintendo Switch 2 model was leaked online through one of the company’s official websites. On Bluesky, @dootsky.re confirmed that he had discovered something interesting. On Nintendo’s account portal, an unused model code is listed as OSM. The Switch 2’s model code is BEE. The portal also contains images of all Switch models. Searching for the OSM code yields an image of the Nintendo Switch 2. This image is not a random placeholder; searching for any other string combination on the company’s web service to generate images for icons results in an error message.

However, the Nintendo Switch 2 OSM model looks identical to the current system, so it’s not a good basis for what the final product will look like. At the same time, it is difficult not to think of a Nintendo Switch 2 Lite, especially given President Shuntaro Furukawa’s statement earlier this month that the company wants to make the system more accessible to first-time console buyers of a certain age.

However, the current RAM shortage and rising prices affect many technology products. Therefore, it remains to be seen how much cheaper a Lite model would be. This is because the base model will also become more expensive if the situation does not normalize soon.
