According to a reliable insider, the Japanese company is set to ship a new entry this year – and it may also lift the curtain on the next major remake before the year is over.
Capcom is reportedly planning to announce its next big Resident Evil remake later this year. That’s the latest claim from well-known leaker Dusk Golem, who posted on Twitter over the weekend saying Capcom will reveal a remake of Resident Evil: Code Veronica, the installment that originally launched on the SEGA Dreamcast. Dusk Golem has a long history of Resident Evil-related rumors, and previously stated that remakes of Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil: Code Veronica were in development – something VGC later backed up.
In a follow-up message, Dusk Golem insisted that Capcom will not be announcing a Resident Evil 5 remake this year. Instead, he said, the remake Capcom will unveil is the one that starts with a C and ends with ode Veronica. The chatter picked up after Eva La Dare, who played Sheva in Resident Evil 5, hinted she had multiple exciting things lined up for March while using the hashtag tied to the franchise’s 30th anniversary. According to the leaker, however, what La Dare is teasing is not Resident Evil 5 Remake at all, but something entirely different.
No, there is NOT a Resident Evil 5 Remake that’s going to be announced this year. Instead, later this year a RE Remake that starts with “(C)” & ends “(ode Veronica)” is going to be announced, I promise you.
Her thing is something else not a remake of RE5. https://t.co/RCO05v6QS3

Resident Evil: Code Veronica first released in 2000 under the supervision of series creator Shinji Mikami, initially as a Dreamcast exclusive before later arriving on PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube. The game follows siblings Claire and Chris Redfield as they fight to survive on a remote prison island after an outbreak. Over the past decade, Capcom has delivered remakes of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4. All three were embraced by critics and fans and went on to sell millions, so it’s no surprise Capcom may have more remakes in the pipeline.
Meanwhile, Resident Evil Requiem is on the way, launching February 27 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
