A Whisper of Fall: Jinyiwei: Another Promising Chinese Action RPG Has Surfaced! [VIDEO]

We just saw another new game pop up the other day, but here comes yet another project from Asia.

After the reveal of GeniGods: Nezha, a new AAA-level Chinese title has entered the picture: A Whisper of Fall: Jinyiwei. Developed by Chengdu Cangmo Information Technology Co., Ltd., the game is part of the PlayStation China Hero Project and is set to release on PlayStation 5 and PC. It already has dedicated pages on Steam and the Epic Games Store. Much like Black Myth: Wukong, Phantom Blade Zero, and the aforementioned GeniGods: Nezha, it is a martial arts-themed action RPG.

A Whisper of Fall: Jinyiwei takes place in the same era as Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), when the empire was teetering on the edge of collapse. Players step into the shoes of an ordinary boatman who, after an unexpected incident, is forced to infiltrate the Ming Dynasty’s imperial guard, the Jinyiwei, as a black-market covert agent. Inside the Jinyiwei, players sharpen their martial arts skills and carry out missions for the Imperial Guard Office, while also completing assignments handed down by the black market.

As the investigation moves forward, the story continues as the outline of a major conspiracy begins to emerge. Fortunately, the protagonist possesses a unique deductive ability that lets him glimpse the future, navigate between rival factions, survive looming dangers, and uncover the truth. As a Jinyiwei agent, players can solve cases quickly, interrogate suspects multiple times, and use deduction to rapidly identify the real culprit and have them imprisoned.

As a wandering knight, the protagonist can sneak, run along walls, and leap between rooftops while battling enemies. The developers want players to experience the conflicts, friendships, and blood feuds of a traditional martial arts world. For now, the release date for A Whisper of Fall: Jinyiwei remains unknown. Whenever it arrives, the PlayStation China Hero Project should deliver a flavor that is rarely, if ever, found in Japanese-developed titles (for example, Nioh 3).
