Fan-Favorite MCU Villain Returns in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2 Teaser

MOVIE NEWS – The latest teaser for the highly anticipated second season of Daredevil: Born Again just revealed the unexpected return of a fan-favorite MCU villain. The upcoming batch of episodes will feature the long-awaited reunion between the Defenders, but it will also include a character that was previously killed on screen. Marvel Entertainment has released a new 30-second preview of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, which is set to debut on Disney+ on March 24.

The action-packed footage sneakily features the return of Toby Leonard Moore as James Wesley, who fans remember was shot dead at the end of Netflix‘s Daredevil Season 1. He can be seen out-of-focus behind his boss, Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio), in a car. It is unclear if the scene featured is a flashback, or whether Wesley has been retconned to be alive in the Disney+ series. Whatever the case may be, it is safe to say that Born Again Season 2 is not shying away from its connection to Netflix‘s beloved series.

Another character from Netflix‘s Daredevil does make a brief appearance in the latest Born Again Season 2 teaser. It’s now been confirmed that Royce Johnson reprises his role as Detective Sergeant Brett Mahoney. One of the consistent staples of Netflix‘s Marvel shows, Mahoney’s return makes it abundantly clear that Born Again is going to cater to fans of the previous three-season show. This is no coincidence, as showrunner Dario Scardapane (The Punisher) is keen on building the bridge between eras of Marvel Television.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is going to feature a litany of popular characters from the original Netflix series. Led by Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock / Daredevil, the second season features Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk / Kingpin, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, and Wilson Bethel as Benjamin “Dex” Poindexter / Bullseye. While Bernthal is not expected to appear as the Punisher, the vigilante is set to feature in his own Marvel Presentation, as well as the upcoming MCU sequel film Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

While the second season has not even premiered yet, Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 is reportedly already in the works. With Ritter making her long-awaited return as Jessica Jones, fans believe that it is only natural for other Defenders to make an appearance in the Disney+ series. Though a cameo in Season 2 has not been discarded, it appears inevitable that the likes of Mike Colter and Finn Jones could return in Season 3 as Luke Cage and Iron Fist, respectively. Until then, viewers have plenty to get excited about when Born Again returns later this month.
