The date of the first public reveal of the third Star Wars Jedi game is reportedly already set. Although leaks and rumors should always be treated with caution, a fresh report suggests that fans may be looking at a launch in the final quarter of the year, with the story focusing on Cal Kestis and his struggle against the Dark Side.
When Respawn announced Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order at E3 2018, fans of the franchise were not entirely sure what to think. Some compared it to God of War, while others brought up Jedi Academy and The Force Unleashed. Eight years later, the series has clearly become one of the stronger names in modern Star Wars gaming, as both Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor are now widely seen as among the best games of the Disney era, even when placed next to classics like Knights of the Old Republic and Jedi Outcast.
The latest entry, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, launched in April 2023. While it was praised for refining the gameplay of Fallen Order and for serving as a satisfying middle chapter in Cal Kestis’s story, it also suffered from performance issues through much of its launch year. Even so, it sold more than 600,000 copies in its first week alone, and Electronic Arts said it exceeded expectations in both 2023 and 2024. Because of that, many players have been waiting to see when Respawn would finally be ready to talk about the third Jedi game, and all signs now point to May.
According to a Reddit user – who claims to have heard this from a friend working at Respawn – the third Jedi game will continue directly from where Jedi: Survivor ended. Cal Kestis will move forward alongside Kata while also confronting the Dark Side; this was a thread that started to emerge in the second game’s final chapters, but never received full development there. The main theme of the story is reportedly the search for peace, highlighted by a moment in which Cal purifies a lightsaber crystal from red to white. It is not clear whether that crystal belongs to Dagan Gera, Bode Akuna, or Cal himself.
On the gameplay side, the leak says the Double Blaster stance will appear as a further evolution of one of the most popular styles in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. While this will not affect the ending, players will reportedly be able to make choices as Cal during the campaign, in a way somewhat similar to the Ghost and Samurai approach in Ghost of Tsushima. The source also offered an explanation of how Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was made compared to its predecessor.
The first game’s script was reportedly more or less finished before development truly ramped up, whereas Survivor’s story was written alongside a far more hectic production. According to the leak, the third game is following something closer to the Jedi: Survivor model, which could have an impact on script quality, though it is obviously too early to say that with certainty. As for the reveal itself, the rumored date is May 4. The expected launch window is said to be the fourth quarter of 2026, although Electronic Arts could still shift it into the first quarter of 2027 because of Grand Theft Auto VI.
The third entry in the Star Wars Jedi series has reportedly been in development since 2023. Original director Stig Asmussen left Electronic Arts that same year, which means the project has been shaped by other Respawn veterans ever since. It is still unclear how the studio intends to top the previous two games, but it is safe to say that Star Wars fans are eager to see Cal Kestis’s story reach its conclusion.
