Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 Will Be “Unforgettable” – Square Enix Knows What Can Make It Work

Square Enix continues to build expectations around the third part of Final Fantasy VII Remake. There is still no trailer, release date, or official title, but Naoki Hamaguchi says development is progressing well, and he has already completed the upcoming RPG roughly 40 times.

Square Enix is still keeping interest alive around the third part of Final Fantasy VII Remake with small but deliberate pieces of information. The game still has no trailer, release date, or final title, but the developer has recently shared details about the project, including the return of mythical areas and the important role the Highwind will play. Now, the company has once again indicated that the team is happy with the progress made so far. In fact, one of the game’s directors has already completed it around 40 times and has reiterated that the goal is to work hard on creating a truly memorable experience.

Naoki Hamaguchi, co-director of the third installment of Final Fantasy VII Remake, shared this brief update on the project in an interview with Nintendo Life. He said that “we are very excited about how the game is currently progressing”, before revealing that “I’ve already completed it more than 40 times!” Obviously, Hamaguchi could not reveal many details about the experience itself, and he urged players to wait for an official announcement from Square Enix. Even so, he used the interview with Nintendo Life to raise the community’s appetite once again: “I’m eager for as many people as possible to enjoy the game, and both I and the team are working hard to ensure we can create an unforgettable gaming experience.”

The Importance Of Developing Beyond The Main Story

Continuing with details about the project’s progress, Hamaguchi once again addressed Square Enix‘s decision to divide the story of Final Fantasy VII into three games, as well as the challenges created by that approach. The developers have to satisfy both fans who played the original title and new players meeting Cloud and his companions for the first time. That is a difficult balance to strike, because longtime fans are not simply looking to relive the 1997 experience with more modern visuals. Hamaguchi and his team have concluded that, for Final Fantasy fans, the relationships between characters, the emotional memories, and the sense of discovering that world are just as important.

“For players familiar with the original game, I think what matters goes beyond the story arc; it’s the relationships between the characters and the emotions they felt upon discovering this world,” the co-director said. “Those are elements we can’t afford to treat lightly. At the same time, for players discovering FFVII today, we need to update the presentation and design to align with modern sensibilities; otherwise, the experience simply wouldn’t resonate. For this reason, we embraced modern approaches to visual expression while preserving the emotional core and character relationships that were so beloved in the original game.”

Square Enix is therefore using each new interview to increase anticipation for the third part of Final Fantasy VII Remake, while still insisting that players need to wait a little longer for the major reveal. The project increasingly feels like more than a simple closing chapter for a trilogy: the company appears to be aiming for a finale that can work both for longtime fans and for a newer audience. The biggest question now is when the first proper trailer will arrive. Hopefully, players will not have to wait too long before the RPG finally appears at a major event, possibly during one of the conferences already confirmed for this summer.
