The field of cooperative shooters keeps expanding, and Reverse Collapse: F already looks like a heavily Helldivers 2-inspired PvE project with a much stranger identity. Mica Team‘s new game blends fantasy elements, science fiction, anime visuals, and World War I-style devastation, but it is still a long way off: it is not expected to arrive on PC, consoles, and mobile until 2028 at the earliest.
The list of cooperative shooters that avoid pitting players against each other in competitive battles continues to grow, but few people would have expected a Helldivers 2-style imitator to appear before GTA 6 itself. That game is Reverse Collapse: F, a science fiction title with a purely PvE focus that mixes a dark military setting with a striking anime visual style. One of the most interesting aspects of the project is that it does not simply copy the cooperative formula of Helldivers 2, but places it inside a much stranger, darker, and more heavily stylized world.
Details about the game remain limited for now, but in Reverse Collapse: F, players will take control of the so-called “Gifted”, individuals with special abilities who fight to ensure humanity’s survival in a devastated world. In this type of game, narrative often takes a secondary role, and Reverse Collapse: F therefore focuses mainly on exploration and combat. There are no space drops inside metal capsules here, but there is a strong inspiration from World War I, along with the decaying landscapes that witnessed the first major European conflict of the last century.
Reverse Collapse: F Is Not Competitive At All, But Built Around Cooperation
What is already clear is that Reverse Collapse: F will be a third-person shooter with a strong cooperative PvE component, designed for up to four players. According to the studio, coordination will be key to completing high-risk missions in dynamic environments featuring warring factions, mechanical enemies, and bosses. The developers also intend to introduce maps of different sizes, moving away from the randomized approach of Helldivers 2. The narrative will also be partially influenced by player actions, reinforcing the game’s dynamic nature.
Development is being handled by Sunborn Network Technology and Mica Team, the studio behind the Girls’ Frontline series and the tactical RPG Reverse Collapse: Code Name Bakery. Both titles received outstanding ratings on Steam, so the studio is not entering the field without credentials, but Reverse Collapse: F still represents a major shift in direction. Until now, the team has mainly focused on strategy and tactical RPGs, whereas this new project aims to make the leap to a large-scale shooter with a substantial budget and international ambitions.
On the technical side, the game is being developed with Unreal Engine 5, which has become a common foundation for ambitious Chinese projects targeting the international market. The combination of visual ambition, cooperative PvE structure, anime style, and World War I-inspired environments could give Reverse Collapse: F a particularly sharp identity. Patience will be necessary, however, because the game is not expected to arrive until 2028 at the earliest, when it is planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and mobile devices.
