[SGF 2026] Guild Wars 3: Goodbye, PC Exclusivity! [VIDEO]

The latest installment in ArenaNet’s franchise will be released on a console for the first time, meaning it won’t be available on hardware from all three manufacturers.

Set in the Tyrian region of Orr, a vast wilderness frontier imbued with the world’s magic, Guild Wars 3 takes place over a thousand years before the events of the original game. Vael spirits, nature entities with strong connections to the land, embody the vitality of this lush, verdant landscape. Various guilds engage in conflict over how to protect or exploit the bounty beyond civilization’s borders. The spirits vary in size and influence within their ecosystems, with the most notable being the Seeker. As seen in the trailer, every player’s Seeker serves as a connection to the spirits of Orr and as a mount to carry players on their journeys through the open world.

Players assume the role of Vaelwardens, members of a guild of adventurers committed to preserving and protecting the spirits of the wild and the land of Orr. Through the deep character customization and skill-building gameplay that the Guild Wars franchise is known for, players will seek adventure and confront danger across this sumptuous, vibrant online world. In doing so, they will grow their relationships with the spirits of the wild, the inhabitants of Orr, and other Vaelwarden players.

The combat system is designed to provide an optimal experience with both a controller and a keyboard, emphasizing the joy of movement and momentum. As players transition seamlessly between various movement modes, they can increase their speed to deal more damage to their foes.

“Guild Wars 3 marks a new era for ArenaNet, Guild Wars, and MMORPGs as a whole. The MMORPG genre has millions of players worldwide who are eager for new, modern experiences. The opportunity to harness that excitement is immense. With Guild Wars 3, we aim to advance the MMORPG genre by creating a believable, rewarding, responsive, and innovative online gaming world. At the same time, we respect players’ time and provide a positive, supportive space for building community and enjoying new stories in our universe,” wrote Colin Johanson, ArenaNet studio head and Guild Wars 3 game director, in the press release.

Guild Wars 3 is coming to PlayStation 5 and PC. The first beta test is expected sometime in 2027.
