MOVIE NEWS – Norman Reedus has confirmed that the fourth and final season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will begin airing on AMC in 2027. The actor marked the announcement with an emotional farewell to the series and promised that its concluding chapter will strike fans harder than anything that came before it.

Years after The Walking Dead concluded its original run in 2022, the wider franchise continues to move forward through six different spin-off series. Apart from Fear the Walking Dead, which lasted eight seasons between 2015 and 2023, most of these productions have delivered shorter adventures built around smaller groups of familiar characters. A few of them nevertheless remain active and continue to command considerable attention. Among those surviving shows is The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, led by Norman Reedus, one of the original series’ most recognisable stars.

Reedus resumed his role as Daryl Dixon in 2023 when The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon began with the character washing ashore in a post-apocalyptic France and agreeing to protect a young boy called Laurent. Their journey also draws in a religious organisation whose members believe the child may be humanity’s saviour, while the first three seasons explore Daryl’s history and his complicated relationship with his family in greater depth. As Reedus prepares to play the fan-favourite survivor one final time, he has now revealed when viewers can expect Daryl to return to television and resume his relentless war against the undead.

Reedus confirmed that Season 4 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, which will conclude the spin-off, is scheduled to begin airing on AMC in 2027. Writing on Instagram, the actor admitted that he could barely believe the series had reached its ending, thanked everyone who supported the journey and warned that its final chapter would deliver an unusually powerful farewell. He also reflected on the injuries, exhaustion and enormous amount of work that went into bringing the production to the screen:

“Daryl Dixon’s final episodes are coming 2027! I can’t quite believe we’re here. Thank you to every single one of you who joined us on this journey — through the good, the brutal, and everything in between. We’ve gotten a lot of bruises, scars and concussions along the way. A lot of hard work went into this series, especially the crews. This last chapter is gonna hit different and hit hard. I can’t wait for all of you to see them. See you in 2027. Missing u all at Comico.”

Production on the final season of Daryl Dixon concluded in November 2025, when Reedus wrote another emotional message to fans and looked back on the long journey he had taken with the character throughout most of the last two decades. Although the spin-off itself is ending, Reedus could still reprise the role in another project, potentially including a future chapter of The Walking Dead: Dead City, but the next stage of Daryl’s story remains unknown.
