[SGF 2026] Star Wars: Galactic Racer: A New Take on Racing? [VIDEO]

Fuse Games and Secret Mode are taking a completely different approach to the decades-old franchise.

At Summer Game Fest, fans caught a glimpse of the rivalry between Galactic League champion Kestar Bool and the mysterious challenger, Shade. They also discovered the new location, Derven Acos, and saw podracing action beyond the Mos Espa Circuit for the first time. In Star Wars: Galactic Racer, elite pilots are invited to join the Galactic League, an underground racing organization founded by racing enthusiast Darius Pax in the lawless Outer Rim. However, while Pax founded the league, the underhanded and well-connected racer Kestar Bool has become its champion and will stop at nothing to maintain his grip on the title. With nowhere else to turn, Pax recruits Shade, a lone racer with a personal grudge against the Bool family. Shade will enter the Galactic League and bring an end to Kestar’s reign before his corruption grows too deep to remove.

To prove their worth in the Galactic League, pilots engage in a series of challenges designed to test their skills. The run-based campaign allows players to carve their own path through the league by choosing between different events as they progress, with unique unlocks and new challenges at every turn. Once an event is chosen, there’s no turning back, and if a pilot crashes too many times, they are eliminated from the tour and must regroup, rebuild, and begin again. Only certain perks and unlocks earned in previous attempts carry over to the next run. Racers start each tour from scratch, facing new decisions and choices for another chance to take down the league champion, Kestar Bool.

Although Kestar and Shade are the main characters in the Star Wars: Galactic Racer campaign, there are many other pilots competing for first place. In the trailer, fans can see Shade exploring the paddock where the other racers gather to share stories, issue challenges, and offer support. Each planet’s paddock features Hibi, the mechanic, and her unique workshop. There, Shade can equip new parts, which can be earned or purchased from Hibi, to boost stats and abilities, supporting each player’s racing style as they prepare for races across the circuit. The newly revealed location of Derven Acos is the ultimate test in the Galactic League – a custom-built arena designed specifically for the racing league. Derven Acos features every planetary condition racers encountered throughout the tour, combined into a gauntlet that pushes a pilot’s skills to the limit. Racers will need nerves of steel and a well-tuned build to succeed in the Galactic League’s showpiece events.

Fans will also get their first look at iconic podracers being piloted outside the Mos Espa Circuit. This brings these powerful machines to new planets with new challenges. In addition to discovering the role of podracing in the single-player story campaign, eager racers can jump straight into podracing through the Arcade mode as soon as they start playing Star Wars: Galactic Racer and experience unique, podracer-focused online multiplayer events for the first time.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer will be released on October 8 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.
