The project that began more than a decade ago will reach its ending in 2027, and the actors say Square Enix’s trilogy will receive a huge emotional finale.
There is plenty of excitement around Final Fantasy VII Revelation, partly because the Highwind is expected to redefine exploration and the overall scale of the trilogy. Square Enix, however, is not only promising a larger world, but also a stronger emotional conclusion.
As the final part of the remake trilogy, the game’s biggest task is not simply to be more spectacular and freer than its predecessors. It also has to provide a worthy ending to the events of Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
Britt Baron, who voices Tifa in the trilogy, spoke to Ally B. at KawaCon about how excited she is for the major finale scenes. In her view, two full games have built toward this ending.
“I’m very excited for some big finale scenes. It feels like two games have been building up to this massive ending. And, in a game where everyone dances around things, it feels like we finally come into a closure. Get some weights off our chests.” Baron said.
Cody Christian, who plays Cloud in the remake trilogy, used even stronger words when describing how the game may affect fans.
“There is so much emotionality; there is so much vulnerability. There are moments in this that, if you have not cried in the first two games, I guarantee you will be sobbing in the third.” Christian said.
The two actors naturally did not reveal specific story details, but their comments suggest that the main characters will process the consequences of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’s ending in a grand and emotionally satisfying way.
The emphasis on Cloud’s vulnerability is especially interesting. It strongly suggests that the famous Lifestream scene may become even more personal and devastating in the trilogy’s new version than it was in the original.
Cloud will finally have to face what happened in Nibelheim and abandon the state of denial he has lived in since the end of the second part. Because of the changes already introduced in the trilogy, that moment may carry even greater weight.
The actors’ comments also align with earlier remarks from director Naoki Hamaguchi. He said the team members themselves reacted emotionally during internal table reads and playthroughs.
The big question remains whether the additional story content will connect the remake trilogy to Advent Children or deliver an entirely original ending. At this point, it is hard to say, but Square Enix is increasingly presenting the game as a massive emotional payoff.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation launches in spring 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. If the actors’ promises hold true, the trilogy’s final chapter may indeed become one of the most important games of the year.
