Has Capcom Been Working on a Dino Crisis Remake for Four Years Already?

Capcom may not only be remaking the main entries in the Resident Evil franchise, but also turning its attention to another IP.

Rumors of a Dino Crisis remake have resurfaced after fans asked Capcom for years to revive the dinosaur survival horror franchise. According to the latest claim, the publisher may have been working on the project for several years. Team Biohazard reports that Capcom began developing the Dino Crisis remake in 2022. However, thus far, no video or development footage has been released, nor have the expected release window or platform details been disclosed. Team Biohazard is currently regarded as a reputable Capcom insider, though not on the same level as more widely recognized industry journalists. Its publicly documented track record is limited, making it difficult to assess the reliability of this specific claim.

On the other hand, Capcom has not yet announced a Dino Crisis remake, nor has it acknowledged that development began four years ago. This remains the most significant caveat in the story. However, there have been encouraging signs. A Capcom trademark sparked new speculation about Dino Crisis, and a previous Capcom survey highlighted interest in reviving the franchise. Neither development confirms that the game is actually in development. However, it’s worth noting that Capcom has stated that it plans to release more sequels, remakes, and ports based on its classic franchises. The company has already revived dormant series such as Onimusha and Okami, so it’s reasonable to assume that Dino Crisis could be considered as well.

Capcom’s successful strategy of remaking Resident Evil also lends credibility to the rumor from a business standpoint. A modern Dino Crisis could leverage the publisher’s survival horror expertise while introducing a proven IP to a new audience. However, strategic alignment alone is not proof. Fans should keep their expectations in check until Capcom announces the remake or a reliable secondary source confirms Team Biohazard’s information.
