12 Minutes of Mayhem in The Sinking City 2 [VIDEO]

Frogwares is using another video to draw players into its story set in 1920s America. The extended footage showcases both the brutal combat and the game’s nightmarish surroundings.

The Sinking City 2 takes us to a Lovecraftian vision of 1920s America and the infamous city of Arkham. A supernatural flood has driven away everyone who has not completely lost their sanity, leaving behind only decay and mysterious horrors roaming the streets. We play as Calvin Rafferty, an occult adventurer whose reckless actions have had devastating consequences. After a dreaming ritual goes wrong, his beloved Faye becomes trapped in a mysterious dream world. Calvin must navigate the streets of the abandoned, flooded city in an attempt to bring her back. Along the way, he will face hordes of otherworldly creatures known as the Slither, which possess corpses and transform them into lethal living puppets.

Players can use an arsenal of weapons inspired by the 1920s to fight eldritch abominations. We can explore rotting apartment buildings, flooded markets, and abandoned hospitals on foot or by boat. Limited resources must be scavenged while carefully managing a restricted inventory and deciding what to carry and what to leave behind. We can investigate the environment more thoroughly, solve optional cases and puzzles, and uncover secrets, upgrades, and additional pieces of lore. All of this unfolds within a captivating and morally complex story of personal loss woven through a Lovecraftian mythology of occultism and incomprehensible creatures.

Frogwares has confirmed that The Sinking City 2 will include a fully featured New Game+ mode at launch, giving players more reasons to return to Arkham after completing the main story. New Game+ will allow them to carry over all perk points, perks, and items to the beginning of the game, helping them face its various challenges more effectively while unlocking certain achievements or trophies and earning cosmetic and gameplay rewards. Alongside the announcement, the development team confirmed that the planned HDR patch is now part of the game’s free post-launch support. As development enters its final stage ahead of the August 18 release, the studio is prioritizing completion of the core game and its launch features, with the HDR update set to follow shortly afterward. Most of the groundwork for the patch has already been completed, so Frogwares is optimistic that it will become available soon after launch.

The Sinking City 2 will be released on August 18 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. Players on all three platforms will be able to enter Arkham’s nightmarish world on the same day.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
