“This Is a Huge Win”: Blizzard Finally Adds a Long-Requested Diablo 4 Feature

Blizzard will introduce Rebirth in Season 15 of Diablo IV, allowing players to continue using the same character across multiple seasons. The feature will first be tested on PTR 3.2.0, which is scheduled to run from August 4 to August 11.

Blizzard has finally responded to a long-standing community request by preparing a Diablo IV feature that will let players use the same character for as many seasons as they want. Known as Rebirth, the system will become available on Public Test Realm 3.2.0 from August 4 to August 11 before being permanently added to the action RPG with the launch of Season 15. Players reacted immediately to the announcement, with many praising Blizzard for finally implementing the option.

According to information published on Blizzard’s official website, Rebirth will allow Eternal characters to be converted into Seasonal characters. The process returns the chosen hero to level 1 while preserving all of the playtime accumulated with that character. Players will therefore no longer need to create someone completely new at the beginning of every Season and can instead continue the adventures of their favourite heroes.

Rebirth will not, of course, preserve everything acquired during previous Seasons. Blizzard has confirmed that the following elements will remain intact:

  • The character’s class, name, appearance, and status.
  • Cosmetic preferences, including pigments, transmogrifications, mounts, accessories, pets, portals, and tombstones.
  • Rebirth cannot be completed while the character has items equipped or stored in their personal inventory. Everything must first be transferred to the Eternal Stash for safekeeping, as any remaining items will be destroyed.

Players have reacted very positively to the arrival of Rebirth. While many enjoy creating a new character at the beginning of every Season, others would rather remain attached to one hero throughout the game. “Honestly, this is huge for me. I know it’s not a big deal for many, but I hate having to create a character for every Season and I prefer my original type to stick with me throughout the game,” SpaceDodoSC wrote on Reddit. “Yeah, this is a huge win. Especially not retaining all the cosmetic builds. I hated having to recreate them every time,” added kestononline, while ijizzrizz commented: “I’ve been waiting for this since Season 0. It’s a big deal for me.”

PTR 3.2.0 will also include several other additions for Diablo IV players. Blizzard has announced Soul Shards, socketable items that provide power in exchange for a sacrifice, along with Challenge Dungeons featuring dangerous bosses. A demon will also ambush players while they travel through the open world, while unique items from the first three Diablo games, new charms, and changes to Mythic items are also planned.

Blizzard Is Saving the Major Season 15 Reveals for BlizzCon

These announcements represent only a brief preview of what players can expect from Diablo IV Season 15. Blizzard has deliberately withheld further information because it intends to present the complete details during BlizzCon 2026, which will take place on September 12 and September 13. The next chapter of the game will receive a larger panel presentation accompanied by considerably more information about the Season’s content and systems.
