Royal Crow’s game is also set to undergo a closed alpha test, which the South Korean studio will hold soon.
Waste The Fallen is a Lovecraftian extraction shooter. Players descend into the Deep, where they must overcome the Fallen, grotesque creatures born from the world’s collapse, and the Deviants, rival scavengers who also seek survival. Players must equip themselves, overcome the dangers below, and escape alive, either alone or in squads of up to three. Each run sends players into decaying zones filled with weapons, materials, and rare finds, all of which are hidden across each map. No two runs are the same, with the Fallen, rival Deviants, and environmental threats ensuring that no stash is ever safe. The deeper players venture, the better the loot, but the greater the threat posed by the Fallen. Resources gathered on each run can be used to upgrade the Bio-Arm, which every Deviant possesses. This allows players to unlock new abilities over time.
These zones are designed to unnerve anyone who enters them. The Fallen stalk the ruins, and the environment itself turns hostile. The longer a run continues, the more the world seems to go wrong. Waste The Fallen treats horror as something that scavengers feel, not just something they see. With a Sanity system that challenges players to manage their mental state as they explore, Waste The Fallen is a truly terrifying experience. Survival depends on reading the silence, listening out for gunfire, and knowing when to fight and when to retreat. The goal is to get out, but losses sting less in Waste The Fallen.
An oversized safe box protects a larger portion of players’ earnings, and quick, easy crafting helps them recover after a setback, so a single failed raid won’t ruin their chances. You can ignore the Deviants or hunt them for their loot. Balancing risk against reward is key to every expedition. Between expeditions, players return to a hideout that they can develop. They can prepare for deeper runs by upgrading crafting stations, unlocking better blueprints, and forging new gear. The hideout offers a place to regroup before the next descent and supports long-term progression, rewarding every successful extraction.
“We wanted to create an extraction shooter that welcomes you rather than punishing you for showing up. Korea has a rich history of acclaimed horror, and we wanted to bring that atmosphere into a Lovecraftian first-person shooter. Our aim was to create a world where fear gradually creeps in, and to design a gameplay structure that rewards curiosity and deeper exploration rather than causing players to lose everything because of a single mistake.” wrote Waste The Fallen producer Choi Byungnam in the press release.
Waste The Fallen is in development for PC, but a release date has not yet been announced. The closed alpha test will run from 10 PM Eastern on September 4 to 3 AM on September 9.
