Bend Studio May Return Sooner Than Expected – The Days Gone Team Is Making Real Progress

Bend Studio may finally be making solid progress on its next game after several controversial Sony decisions and two abandoned projects. Jason Schreier believes the Days Gone developer’s new work could be revealed within the next one or two years.

The years following Days Gone’s 2019 launch have been unusually difficult for Bend Studio. The open-world action game received mixed reviews at release, but later built a large and loyal community while achieving commercial success. Sony nevertheless rejected a sequel proposal, and directors John Garvin and Jeff Ross left the studio not long afterward.

The team then began developing a new live-service IP as part of PlayStation’s expansion strategy. That project was cancelled in 2025 alongside Bluepoint Games’ planned God of War live-service title. Bend avoided closure and a complete shutdown, however, and moved on to another production.

Bend Studio’s New Game Could Appear Within Two Years

Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier says the studio has managed to move forward and is making good progress on its new project. He expects the game to be shown within the next one or two years, although he stressed that he has no confirmed information about its genre, story, or any possible connection to an existing franchise.

The update matters because Bend Studio has effectively missed the PlayStation 5 generation so far. Its only released work this decade was the PC version of Days Gone, while Days Gone Remastered was developed by Climax Studios. If Schreier’s expectation proves accurate, one of Sony’s longest-running American teams may finally return with a game of its own.

Neither the project nor its reveal window has been officially announced, so the report should not automatically be read as evidence of Days Gone 2. Even so, tangible development progress is the first genuinely encouraging sign for Bend’s future after years of uncertainty.
