The new Fable marks a fresh start for the series. While it does not directly continue the story of the original Lionhead Studios games, Playground Games, the new developer, states that the game is built on three fundamental pillars of the saga: the fairy-tale concept, the distinctive British atmosphere, and player decisions. We return to Albion with new characters and areas in a standalone adventure. Decisions will once again affect the game and are tied to the reputation system. The inhabitants of Albion witness the protagonist’s actions and interpret them differently, which changes their opinion of the hero. In addition to the main storyline, players can earn money by owning property or working as a blacksmith. They can also form romantic relationships, start a family, and forge their own identity within the game world.
Overall, Fable promises to be a high-quality RPG that combines a classic fantasy world with familiar creatures, a flexible combat system, and attractive graphics. The game will be released on February 23 for Xbox Series and PC and will also be available on Xbox Game Pass. It will cost €70, or €100 for the Premium Edition, which allows players to start playing five days before the release date.
