We expected Firesprite’s game to be released in 2027, so a 2027 release date makes perfect sense. However, it will be released very early.

In 2015, we all fell in love with the instant classic Until Dawn when it was released for the PlayStation 4. Now, Firesprite Games is thrilled to announce an all-new sequel for the PlayStation 5. Until Dawn 2 is a standalone experience featuring a brand-new cast and a whole new world to explore. True to form, it’s a modern horror experience packed with intrigue, emotion, twists, and choices that will keep you up at night. Your decisions still shape the story. Who will fall victim, and who will survive Until Dawn?

This time, the cast is a crew of ghost hunters — the faces behind the wildly popular paranormal channel Dead True. But they’ve never encountered anything supernatural. The scares they are known for are staged. All that changes when they come face-to-face with real horrors for the first time and must live up to their reputation to survive until dawn. After signing a deal with a major TV network, the crew is sent to an abandoned tropical island to film their first fully funded episode. At first, there’s sun, sand, secrets, and some NSFW drama as their complicated relationships bubble to the surface.

There’s more to this beautiful island than meets the eye. Beneath its blissful exterior lie dreadful, centuries-old secrets hungry for vengeance, and the crew has landed right in the middle of them. They may have been lured here by the promise of treasure, but survival quickly becomes the only thing that matters. Will we help them escape and share their story with the world, or will they become just another haunted legend claimed by the island? Would it be an Until Dawn game without gut-wrenching decisions? Would you risk injury to save an adorable baby boar from a nasty bear trap? Will you keep a scandalous affair going, even if it could tear the group apart? Or will we push someone to their breaking point for the sake of content that our intimidating boss says we need?

Our management of relationships within the crew matters more than ever because some story branches depend on the current state of affairs between characters. Even small character moments can set off a butterfly effect, sending our story spinning toward unforeseen consequences. Firesprite took the reins on Until Dawn 2 as their first release since Horizon: Call of the Mountain (co-developed with Guerrilla Games). Many of the developers are big fans of the original Until Dawn, so working on the sequel has been a dream come true. From day one, part of their mission has been to honor the core elements that made the first game so special: character drama, tough choices, and unforgettable horror moments.

Until Dawn 2 is set to release on January 28 for the PlayStation 5, with pre-orders beginning on September 10.
