Square Enix’s game has received a release date. It will still be a long wait, but the disc version will be disappointing.
Final Fantasy VII: Revelation is the thrilling conclusion to the Final Fantasy VII Remake saga. Embark on a final journey aboard the Highwind airship—one that will decide the fate of the planet. The final game in the trilogy features an even larger scale and higher stakes. Board the Highwind to explore a vast world, team up with your comrades, and take down epic threats. The unknown journey is finally coming to an end. The many threads of destiny have all led here. Ultimate black magic threatens to wipe out all life. Enormous planetary guardians, known as the Weapons, wreak havoc across the world. Sephiroth waits in the north. With the planet’s existence on the line, Cloud and his companions must face these threats head on.
Cloud Strife (voiced by Cody Christian in English) is a former first-class operative for Shinra’s famed Soldier unit. He left the company to work as a “hand for hire” in Midgar. Though he seems disinterested and callous, he truly has a hard time ignoring the plight of others. Tifa Lockhart (voiced by Britt Baron) is Cloud’s childhood friend and a member of the Shinra resistance group, Avalanche. She harbors tremendous guilt for the lives lost in the group’s efforts to save the planet. No matter the situation, she puts on a brave, cheerful face in front of her comrades, preferring to keep her thoughts and feelings to herself. Barret Wallace (John Eric Bentley) is the leader of an independent Avalanche cell determined to take down Shinra. His fight to save the planet from the company’s tyranny has cost him many friends and loved ones. Though he may seem abrasive at first, he is actually caring and big-hearted, especially when it comes to his daughter, Marlene.
Red XIII (voiced by Max Mittelman) is a warrior beast from Cosmo Canyon who can speak like a human. After Cloud and his companions free him from Shinra captivity, he joins them on their journey, assisting the party with his extensive knowledge and razor-sharp claws. He has a youthful and playful side that he only shows to those he trusts. Yuffie Kisaragi (Suzie) is a spunky young ninja from the warrior nation of Wutai. After failing her mission to retrieve Shinra’s “ultimate materia” and losing a dear friend, she meets Cloud and his companions. Cait Sith (Paul Tinto) is a fortune-telling robot cat who knows just what to say to lighten the mood. He joined Cloud and the party on their journey for reasons he has yet to fully disclose, but his unprecedented access to Shinra’s database has certainly been a boon. Vincent Valentine (Matthew Mercer), a former Shinra operative and taciturn gunslinger, was recently awoken from a long slumber by Cloud and his companions. Burdened by the sins of his past, he waits patiently for his chance at absolution, though he doubts it will ever come. Cid Highwind (J. Michael Tatum) is an ace pilot who dreams of spaceflight. He operates a small free-flier business out of the world’s abandoned airstrips. He joins Cloud and the others to help them on their journey across the planet.
Aerith Gainsborough (played by Briana White) is a young flower peddler and the last of the Cetra, an ancient race that can communicate with the planet. Recognizing the threat that Sephiroth poses, she joins Cloud and the others on their mission to safeguard the planet, facing her destiny with quiet dignity. Though she puts on a brave face, she harbors deep anxiety about the future of the world. Zack Fair (Caleb Pierce) is a Soldier: First Class. He is a friend of Cloud’s and Aerith’s first love. He once worked directly under Sephiroth. Though he is ever at the mercy of fate, he presses on, hopeful and undaunted. Sephiroth (Travis Willingham) is the formerly vaunted Soldier: First Class, whom many considered a hero. Though he was presumed dead five years ago, Sephiroth continues to haunt Cloud. He claims to seek dominion over the planet, but his true intentions remain a mystery.
Fight as a team to defeat your enemies. The defining hybrid of real-time action and command-based strategy from the Remake series returns with added twists. Swap between characters, execute powerful attacks and synergy skills, unleash devastating ATB commands, and summon divine entities to destroy your foes. Synergy Abilities are unique team-up attacks. These are powerful combat skills in which two of your teammates join forces to decimate the enemy and provide beneficial status effects. Each character combination has multiple unique Synergy Abilities, so structure your party carefully to claim victory.
Augment your characters’ combat capabilities by dressing them in new Function-Integrated Tactical Suitwear (FITS). These outfits not only change your characters’ appearances, they also give them access to skills and abilities that can turn the tide of battle. Customize your team’s FITS and Materia loadouts to defeat even the toughest foes. The Knight FITS bolsters the team’s defensive capabilities, and the Summoner FITS allows the wearer to perform synergistic strikes with summoned entities. Each FITS represents classic jobs from the Final Fantasy series, such as Warrior and Black Mage. They unlock different strengths, abilities, and costumes, allowing you to create a playstyle all your own.
The Aerospace Cape is a new locale where Shinra’s Space and Aeronautics Division develops rocket and spaceflight technology. It is home to a small settlement called Rocket Town. The new enemies are the Weapons, the Guardians of the Planet. Throughout your journey, you will be forced to engage these towering colossi in combat. Here, Shinra forces will attempt to intercept the advance of the Diamond Weapon.

Among the digital editions, there’s the Standard Edition (80 euros, pre-order bonus: Mecha-Chocobo and Moogle summon materia), the Premium Edition (110 euros, which also includes access to the two story DLCs and the extra items; the pre-order bonuses are the same, and you can start playing the base game 24 hours early…), and finally, there’s the Premium Plus Edition (the name alone is ridiculous… priced at 120 euros; in addition to the previous items, you get the digital art book and the mini soundtrack, but there’s no early access here; the Nymphwing Bracelet, the Polydroid Alexander summoning materia, and the Risk Taker’s Choker are also included). Finally, with the 95-euro Trilogy Edition, you’ll receive Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth immediately upon pre-ordering, followed by the base game Final Fantasy VII Revelation upon release (the pre-order bonuses here are also the Mecha-Chocobo and Moogle summon materia).

Final Fantasy VII Revelation will be released on April 8 (or April 7 for the more expensive version…) for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. On Switch 2, it will be released via Game-Key Card and will require a download of at least 130 GB. With the disc edition, they couldn’t manage to make it so we’d get not one, but TWO discs. We saw this with Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rebirth as well. That’s why every physical edition requires an internet connection for the download. Because game preservation isn’t worth a damn here either.

We decided to make it happen. Instead of announcing it after the game’s release, we wanted to share our plans beforehand. We’ll be telling the stories of Sephiroth and Vincent in greater depth. We hope you’re looking forward to it!”
