Over the weekend, a minigame disappeared from the game after a patch was released, and the community noticed immediately.

If you’ve ever seen a slasher movie, then you know how it goes: All the young characters are horny, and anyone who’s horny definitely won’t survive the movie. Although Halloween isn’t as full of clichés as some of its knife-wielding contemporaries, its recently released asymmetrical PvP adaptation featured a minigame in which two players could hide in a closet and have sex for bonuses. However, after being available for only a few days during the early access period for the deluxe edition, the feature was reportedly removed.

In fact, it appears the minigame was quietly removed via a hotfix. The latest patch notes don’t mention the minigame, but it’s mentioned in the comments. In the Steam thread, one user wrote: “BRING BACK THE CLOSET MINIGAME!” Others noted that Lynda, a flirtatious NPC who could previously receive benefits from the minigame, no longer has this trait. Players on social media are also unhappy. On the game’s subreddit, a thread titled “Please bring back the sex minigame” is quickly gaining popularity.

As expected, there are tons of jokes circulating, and it’s ridiculous that “sex in the closet” would become the exclusive, time-limited pre-order bonus in the game if this change becomes permanent. Unfortunately, there may be a good reason for its removal. Players are speculating about why the change was made. Deceased characters can reappear as older versions of themselves, such as a police officer or Michael Myers’s therapist, Dr. Loomis. While this would be fine on its own, it’s troubling if these characters could potentially seduce a high school student. For example, Laurie Strode is only 17 years old in the version depicted in the game.

Although Illfonic hasn’t confirmed this as the reason for removing the feature, it’s difficult to imagine a more convincing explanation. In any case, this is a form of publicity for the game, so it’s a clever move.
