Although the character will appear in CD Projekt RED’s next game, his role in the The Witcher 3 expansion remains to be seen.
Since Geralt will pass the torch to Ciri as the main character in The Witcher IV, many expect that several characters from the first three games in the series won’t appear. We haven’t heard anything yet about the other major characters in the game, which is set to release in 2028 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. However, we’ve received confirmation that Dandelion will return in the fourth installment of the series. His role in The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past expansion is expected to be smaller than anticipated.
According to a report on the Wiedźminlandia Facebook page, Jacek Kopczyński, the voice actor for Dandelion, discussed the character and his role in the upcoming games during a panel held at the PSX Extreme Party 2026. Kopczyński learned about the character’s presence in the Songs of the Past expansion during voice recording sessions for The Witcher IV, essentially confirming that the character will return in the next main installment of the series. More noteworthy, however, is that Kopczyński has not yet recorded any lines for the expansion.
Regarding the upcoming The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt expansion, titled Songs of the Past, the actor said he is waiting for an invitation from the studio to read the script and record his lines because he has not yet been called in. Earlier reports indicated that CD Projekt RED planned to invite both Kopczyński and Jacek Rozenek, Geralt’s Polish voice actor, to a stream dedicated to the expansion. This would be similar to the panel featuring the English voice actors at Gamescom.
With the release of the expansion just around the corner, it’s surprising that Jacek Kopczyński hasn’t recorded any dialogue for Songs of the Past. This suggests that the bard, who disappeared during the events of Belleteyn, might not play a significant role in the new story. If that’s the case, it would be surprising, considering the new story centers on his family and origins. It would be surprising and disappointing. Geralt and Dandelion’s friendship in Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels is one of my favorite things about the entire universe. Since the Netflix series ruined it as much as almost everything else, CDPR’s games are the only media where we can see the friendship properly adapted, as in the third installment of the series.
Hopefully, the fact that the Polish actor hasn’t recorded his lines yet isn’t related to Dandelion’s screen time, and the bard will appear alongside Geralt when the expansion is released sometime next year.
