Another developer has performed a worrying move. Capcom seems to have created a sad standard as Blizzard followed their footsteps. They censored. What exactly did Blizzard censor?
It’s about Overwatch, their upcoming multiplayer shooter. One of the characters (Tracer) has a pose called Over the Shoulder. You can see it below the article. The problem is that this move shows her backside dominantly.
One of the forum users, namely Fipps (credit to Fipps for taking the image below), did not like this. As Fipps says, „It’s not fun, it’s not silly, it has nothing to do with being a fast elite killer. It just reduces Tracer to another bland female sex symbol.” Fipps adds that this pose would be more fitting to Widowmaker.
The topic is over thirty pages at the moment, so Fipps’ comment created a lot of conversation in just a short time. Game director Jeff Kaplan also responded in this topic. He says „We want *everyone* to feel strong and heroic in our community. The last thing we want to do is make someone feel uncomfortable, under-appreciated, or misrepresented. Apologies and we’ll continue to try to do better.” He points out that removing this pose was easy, and Blizzard already has an alternate pose in store for Tracer.
Overwatch will launch on May 24 on PS4, X1 and PC.
