2009 – Climax Studios finishes development of Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, and moves on to another game. 2012 – Square Enix cancels the project.
This game is Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun, which Eurogamer showed off some leaked gameplay footage of (here). The small team had a big task: a multiplatform game (PS3/X360/PC) utilizing Unreal Engine 3 as well as being the revival, or, to be more exact, reboot of an older, popular franchise.
The main character would have been a brand new one (Square Enix asked for this change) called Asher. Or Gein? Gein, a vampire, kills Asher, who, surprisingly, awakens in the body of Gein. A human in the body of a vampire, unaware of his powers. Eurogamer presented a new gameplay footage of it, but we also included the two previously seen videos as well.
Crystal Dynamics might be working on a new title for the PS4 and the Xbox One – according to their senior designer’s, Michael Brinker’s comment from last October, there’s a 50/50 chance of that game happening.
