Electronic Arts came up with new rules. The viewers, potential customers will likely appreciate the change.
In a new blog post, which only seems to be available in German, the publisher says that YouTubers, streamers, and „influencers” will be forced to display their promotion style. On the NeoGAF forums, we also learned that Electronic Arts is using two types of promotion.
The Advertisement category is the usual form of paid advertising. Electronic Arts contact the person directly, and they will force him/her to use the #advertisement hashtag on social media, such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
The second category is the Supported By. In this case, Electronic Arts don’t influence the content and its details. Think of paid press invitations with travel expenses covered – these promotions must use the #supportedbyEA hashtag. In both cases, the content creators will have to mention their partnership type explicitly.
We can describe this decision by one word: transparent.
