Rodrigo Duterte garners attention once again.
Duterte, who won the presidential elections in 2016, has had quite aggressive comments and actions since, and he’s now going against child pornography. He issued his government to block adult websites, such as Pornhub, according to Inquirer.
If you wanted to visit pornhub.com from the Philippines, you’d likely get this error message: „This website has been ordered blocked under authority of the Philippine government pursuant to Republic Act 9775 or the Anti-Child Pornography Law.” The funny thing is that Duterte made his move just after Pornhub revealing in their annual review that his country took the most time per visit on the website with an average of twelve minutes and forty-five seconds!
Local YugaTech‘s investigation says that even a single page or image related to child pornography would result in total blockage, and while filtering would make more sense, it’s a tedious thing to do, plus inspecting all suspicious websites would be a pricier approach as well.
Blockage seems to depend on ISPs. Still, it seems Duterte’s approach towards China (whose government also blocks adult websites) continues.
