New IP, new location, new hope.
Polish 11 bit Studios has announced last August that they have begun working on a new project after This War of Mine. It is Frost punt, and unfortunately, we don’t know which platforms will get the game. We believe the PC and the PlayStation 4 will be one of them, though.
„Frostpunk takes on what people are capable of when pushed to the limits. How survival can reshape the society. For worse, better, stronger, weaker or, last but not least, more or less humane – that is debatable. It’s set in an ultimately frozen world, where people develop steam-powered technology to oppose the overwhelming cold. Steampunk setting originated not as a visual theme but a believable mean of survival. A reasonable path the society would take in pictured circumstances.
The core gameplay revolves around the (potentially) last remaining city on Earth and its citizens. Players take over the role of a leader managing both the inhabitants and the infrastructure they live in. Strategic at its core, it challenges the player’s tactical skills, frequently questioning one’s morality. Here optimization and resource management often clash with empathy and thoughtful decision-making.
While society and city management consume most of the player’s time, there are also other layers of gameplay allowing for exploration and deeper understanding of the world’s history and present state. Our unique setting has given us an opportunity to create a distinct visual style setting off the contrast between cold palette (representing nature) and warm colors (for remnants of civilization),” the press release says.
The game will be out later in 2017.
