Star Wars Battlefront II Officially Revealed, First Details [VIDEO]

The new Battlefront will pick up the pace on several fronts – for example, it will have a single player campaign.

Star Wars Battlefront II‘s campaign will be taking players on an epic journey from the battle of Endor to the rise of the First Order. „You play the role of Commander Iden Versio, leader of the Galactic Empire’s elite special forces unit, Inferno Squad. After witnessing the destruction of the second Death Star, Iden’s team embarks on an extraordinary odyssey of revenge, betrayal, and redemption spanning the 30-year gap between Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” the press release says. All three eras (the prequel, the original trilogy, and the new movies) will be included, so characters, such as Darth Maul, Yoda, Kylo Ren, Luke Skywalker, and Rey, will all be included.

The multiplayer will have up to 40 players (that’s still not 64), and it will have a „deep class-based online gameplay, with a rewarding progression system, extensive hero customization abilities, and a larger arsenal of weapons with improved modification options.” Expect space battles, as well as tauntaun riding on locations, such as Takodana, Starkiller Base, Yavin, Mos Eisley, Endor, and Hoth. There will likely be more places than that.

„Anyone who pre-orders the Standard Edition will get a whole range of rewards, including exclusive* Star Wars: The Last Jedi-themed looks for Kylo Ren and Rey, an ability modifier that upgrades the Millennium Falcon, epic ability modifiers for Rey and Kylo Ren, and more. Players purchasing the Elite Trooper Deluxe Edition receive upgraded versions of all Trooper classes, an A280-CFE blaster rifle instant weapon unlock, an enhanced scope modification, and an epic ability modifier.” It seems like DICE, Criterion and Motive have gone to follow Overwatch to an extent…

If you subscribe to EA / Origin Access, you can access a trial from November 9. If you preorder the Elite Trooper Deluxe Edition, you can play the game from November 14, and everyone else can pick Star Wars Battlefront II up from November 17 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. More details (and potentially a major gameplay stream with some celebs, just like with Battlefield 1 last year) at EA Play, so wait until June to see some information about the game. Look at the box art and a few screenshots.

One more thing: there will be no season pass!
