Gran Turismo Sport: Futureproofing?

Kazunori Yamauchi, the father of Gran Turismo and the head of Polyphony Digital, silently hinted at the future.

Australian publication Finder had the chance to visit the developers, and Yamauchi said that the assets created for Gran Turismo Sport are over-specced for the PlayStation 4, and they are preparing ahead of time instead:

„It takes six months to create a single car. It’s over-specced for PS4 Pro, so we are building for future versions of the console rather than the one we see today. I think it would be no problem to run Gran Turismo Sport at 8K even.”

Yamauchi obviously hinted at the PlayStation 5 with that comment, and that console would be Sony’s next big hardware unless they make a new handheld before the next PlayStation. Polyphony Digital’s approach feels a little weird at the moment.

Gran Turismo Sport will launch on October 18 on PlayStation 4.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
