Reggie Fils-Aime, the American Nintendo president also talked about virtual reality.
Reggie told Variety that there’s enough demand for the Nintendo Switch, which is why they aim to sell ten million from April 2017 to the end of March 2018, but the question is: can they make enough consoles? Reggie said that they are focusing on making it happen. It’s expected because the Switch sells like hotcakes, and it’s a portable platform.
Fils-Aime also talked about the virtual reality, too. The problem, according to him, is that there are not enough fun experiences in VR to be successful, and thus, Nintendo doesn’t plan to return to the scene. (Remember, they flopped big time with the Virtual Boy in the 1990s!) Two years ago, Reggie told Polygon that virtual reality has to be social and fun to be successful.
Hopefully, Nintendo manages to make enough Switches for the Holiday season, as there are multiple great games are coming by the end of this year, such as Super Mario Odyssey, Resident Evil Revelations 1-2, Rocket League, etc.
