The wrath of a player with a gun cost lives.
One leg of the Madden Championship Series was held in Jacksonville, Florida, yesterday. In the video below, you can see how the player on the right suddenly has a red dot on his clothing, which is from the murderer’s gun’s laser scope – the camera is mixed down from the video at this point, perhaps in a fortunate manner: the gunshots follow almost immediately…
According to Mike Williams, Jacksonville’s Sheriff, the officers were on the scene two minutes after the 911 call, but that was too late: the 24-year-old man from Baltimore already killed two people, and then, he killed himself as well. There were fourteen injured – twelve from gunshot wounds, and two from „other wounds.” Nine people had to be taken to the hospital, and two other managed to get there on their own. Everybody’s condition is stable.
Williams named the killer, whose name is David Katz, who has won an event in February, and he can be seen on Buffalo Bills’ Twitter account. Allegedly (it’s not confirmed at the moment!), he was eliminated early in the Jacksonville event which caused him to be violent…
On Twitter, several companies have expressed their condolences from Electronic Arts (the developers of Madden), NFL (the series Madden is about), to Twitch. Everyone is shocked, and for a good reason…
