MOVIE NEWS – Capcom has geared up (or Double Geared up?): the Blue Bomber is getting an official cinematic adaptation.
There have been a few fan-made Mega Man films, but the less we talk about them, the better. Capcom announced that the Mega Man-film, which will be called Mega Man (the creativity here is unbelievable!) is in production. The writer and the director will be Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, and the production will be handled by Chernin Entertainment (Planet of the Apes) and Masi of Oka (Heroes). 20th Century Fox will do the distribution.
Capcom aims to appeal to a diverse audience, not just the fans of the Mega Man games or the action movie genre, with an adaptation that „maintains the world of the Mega Man games, while incorporating the grand production and entertainment value that Hollywood movies are known for.”
There’s no release date yet. It might backfire, but maybe Capcom can finally create a good game-to-movie adaptation. (The latest Mega Man cartoon is… well, let’s say it’s aimed at a too young audience.)
