MOVIE NEWS – Tom Holland will be directed by Dan Trachtenberg on a date yet to be determined.
The film adaptation of the Uncharted saga seems to remain a priority for Sony. According to exclusive information of Variety, the film has found in Dan Trachtenberg, director of Cloverfield Lane 10, its new director.
His signing comes after meeting a few weeks ago that Shawn Levy left the direction of Uncharted to take charge of another project. The scoop published by the US portal does not provide more details of the state of a production starring Tom Holland as a young Nathan Drake. It is remembered that the draft of the most recent script was by Jonathan Rosenberg and Mark Walker.
However, another article on Hollywood Reporter wrote, that the script will not follow the story of the Naughty Dog game but will be a prequel that follows protagonist Nathan Drake, a descendant of explorer Sir Francis Drake, as a young treasure hunter learning the tricks of the thieving trade from his would-be mentor, Sully. This latest script comes from Joe Carnahan.
It is not the first time that the name of Dan Trachtenberg is associated with a film based on a video game. In the past he was supposed to be on board for the film adaptation of Portal and, in fact, made an interesting live-action short film of Valve’s famous videogame. Trachtenberg is also known for directing Playtest, a Black Mirror story where the industry plays a prominent role in the plot.
As for Tom Holland, tomorrow the first trailer of Spider-Man: Far From Home will be released as the actor has hinted in social networks.
