Monolith Productions had to redirect the project after, supposedly, the refusal of the prestigious director.
Curious news comes to us today. According to information from DidYouKnowGaming?, one of the biggest surprises of the decade in terms of licensing, Middle-earth: Shadows of Mordor , was originally born with another cinematographic success owned by Warner Bros .: the highly acclaimed Batman of Christopher Nolan, specifically his third installment, Rise of The Dark Knight.
Always according to the journalist Liam Robertson, when Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment took over the reins of the FEAR responsible studio, they were commissioned to develop an open-world video game based on the brand-new film in 2012. Monolith Productions immediately put it on and Results apparently were quite promising. However, it was cancelled.
The reason? Here the subject varies a lot. Some say that the British director did not want to approve the video game, a statement that varies depending on who is asked. What does seem truer is that Shadow of Mordor was born from its ashes in 2014, while Rocksteady and WB Games Montreal gave us several brilliant deliveries of the Batman: Arkham series since that date. Already speculating, possibly the success of these last titles was the cause of not moving forward with other similar titles starring the same character.
For now, it is a mystery when we will see the hero of Gotham starring in a new adventure, although everything indicates that WB Montreal is still working on a video game of DC Comics as it is also a secret in what works. It is also a secret the next production of Monolith Productions that they launched on the market at the end of 2017 the also very notable Middle-earth: Shadow of War.
