Assassin’s Creed Continues To Be The Flagship Ubisoft IP

We learned a few new numbers regarding Ubisoft’s IP sales and player figures, favourable tot he Assassin’s Creed series.

Daniel Ahmad, a senior analyst at Niko Partners, published a few new figures from the French publisher on Twitter: „I just realised Ubisoft updated its franchise sales figures a while back and no one reported on it.

Assassin’s Creed: 140 million sold. Just Dance: 70 million. Far Cry: 50 million. Rabbids: 20 million,” Ahmad wrote. He also went into player numbers for some of the Ubisoft titles, too: „Rainbow Six Siege: 50 million players. Ghost Recon[: Wildlands, as Breakpoint isn’t out yet…]: 30 million. For Honor: 21 million. The Crew: 21 million.”

With a bit of maths, you can count that Assassin’s Creed has been on market for 12 years, so the 140 million sales equal an average of 11.5 million sales per year, which is outstanding. The French publisher adds that they have 95 million unique players (plus they bash their chest saying the Assassin’s Creed Symphony World Tour with the IP’s music launched this year.) The image also shows that Rayman was the first big hit for Ubisoft, and it has 40+ different versions on 20+ platforms (porting does the trick here). Far Cry: 50+ million sales since Far Cry 2, 79+ million Far Cry sessions initiated since Far Cry 3, and the shovels (…?) in Far Cry 5 travelled more than 225 thousand kilometres, the equivalent of more than five tours around the world. Just Dance: 120+ million players, 2.5+ billion songs played, and 80 billion kilocalories burned.

„Splinter Cell: 30 million sold. The Division: 20 million players (an old number). Watch Dogs: 36 million unique players. Ubisoft Club: 140 million registered members. Note that because this was reported back in June, some of the numbers may be old now,” Ahmad added.

So the French company has a lot of big IPs. (We’re still angry about Splinter Cell, though.)
