The Xbox Series X, which looks huge (at first glance, it could look like a PC tower, to be fair…), will come with a function that will benefit a few people.
The Xbox Series X is the biggest surprise of December – Microsoft probably wanted to take the attention away from the PlayStation 5 by pulling a shock announcement/reveal at The Game Awards. The machine has been running as Project Scarlett until now, and we still have yet to see if the rumours about having a stronger (codename Anaconda) and a weaker (Lockhart) model is true or not. Regarding the console, Jason Ronald, Microsoft’s director of program management, said the following:
„Today, we have the capability of instantly resuming the last game that you were playing. Why can’t you do that for multiple games? Many players choose to play multiple games at the same time, being able to instantly jump right back where I was, those are things that we can do with the platform level to make the gaming experience better,” Ronald said. This function will benefit those who indeed prefer playing multiple games at the same time. Not everyone prefers playing that way, but it’s still a welcome addition.
Let’s also not forget what Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox, said about the Xbox Series X: „The first thing I wanted to say is the [Xbox Series X’s] design works vertical or horizontal, just like the Xbox One S and Xbox One X.” It’s a subject of comfort – if you don’t have much space to put the console somewhere, then you’d probably have to go with a horizontal placement (and then, you’d probably have to consider ventilation), and not put the console vertically.
The Xbox Series X should be available in a year – its price and release date is unknown for now.
