The first three Mass Effect games were far better than Andromeda (then again, 3’s ending was initially questionable…) – Electronic Arts might utilise them.

Yesterday, we talked about the company’s financial report, as well as how many of its games are going to get a free next-gen upgrade (and one of them has to be Apex Legends, as the game was released too late to be ignored). We also mentioned that Electronic Arts wants to release fourteen titles in the fiscal year that started on April 1. They are the following: Burnout Paradise Remastered (Nintendo Switch), Command & Conquer Remastered (PC), Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond (Oculus – VR!), FIFA 21, Madden NFL 21, NHL 21, an unannounced EA Sports title, an additional EA HD title, four EA Partners titles, and two mobile soft launches (not widely available, limited to certain regions).

Yesterday, we asked what if this unannounced EA HD project is Mass Effect Trilogy? Then, Jeff Grubb at VentureBeat got on the same frequency as us and said that Mass Effect Trilogy is this project. It would be a good idea, as you’d not have to use backwards compatibility or streaming (PlayStation Now) to play them on newer platforms (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC). Electronic Arts would also get a ton of cash. We’ll bang, ok?

Interestingly, Electronic Arts is planning several releases for the Nintendo Switch, but we have our doubts. Last year, FIFA 20 got a Legacy Edition, meaning EA has essentially given up on the platform by giving it nothing more than a roster update of FIFA 19 as a full-price title. The Switch deserves more than that, and perhaps that’s why Grubb believes Apex Legends will also launch on the big N’s hybrid platform. That would be reasonable.

We’ll see.
