The DualSense Is Getting Its Own Broadcast! [VIDEO]

This might be a first: a stream about a controller…

Geoff Keighley announced that today, at 4 PM UTC, he will have a detailed presentation of the DualSense controller. This stream can be watched on YouTube and Twitch. This broadcast is going to be part of Summer Game Fest 2020, which is why Keighley (who you might know as the host and producer of The Game Awards) will lead this event. He also confirmed that during the stream, he’s going to interview Eric Lempel, the global head of marketing at PlayStation, so he might reveal new details about the PlayStation 5 aside from the new controller that comes with it.

„What’s exciting about the DualSense controller is the fact that it has stereo vibration in terms of the rumblers, as well as resistance on the triggers, so one of the things that you can do is to create, for the first time, a sensation of your weapon hitting another weapon and how it resonates,” Keith Lee, the director of Godfall, told GameSpot. He praised the surface effects, too: „The fact that if you’re sliding across the ground, depending on the surface of the material–you might slide on gravel or sand or water–the way the vibrations work feel like the way that those surfaces would feel. So it’s a lot more powerful in terms of creating that experience.”

Recently, Young Horses, the developers of Bugsnax, have also had a high opinion of the new controller, going as far as calling it unique: „Previously on pretty much any console that has vibration or rumble, it’s a nice feature that sometimes can make things more immersive, but I haven’t felt anything quite as intricate and sensitive as the DualSense’s haptic feedback.” (However, they might be exaggerating – to properly recreate the effect of two weapons clashing, your whole body should feel it, not just your hands.)

The DualSense controller, along with the PlayStation 5, will launch this Holiday season, possibly in November. The pricing and release date is not announced yet.
