Arkane Lyon wants to guarantee the health of its employees and delays the release date of Deathloop.
Bad news for those who were looking forward to the new game from Arkane, the studio responsible for games like Prey or the Dishonored saga. The company has announced through a statement the delay in the launch of Deathloop, its next project for PS5 and PC, which will not arrive until the second quarter of 2021.
In the note issued by Arkane Lyon, they justify the delay by prioritizing the health of their employees, saying that “it is their priority.” The French team affirms that it will adjust the work from home for its development members so that they take more calmly the development of an adventure that was scheduled to arrive at the end of this year. In the end, it will not be like that and, as in other projects, the coronavirus, together with the effort to avoid the dreaded crunch in the last months of development have been key for Deathloop to go to 2021. They affirm that this extra time will allow them to offer a game ” much more fun. ”
Deathloop is an original franchise that follows the style of the first-person action that we have seen in games like Dishonored, with direct action combined with firearms and supernatural powers. The player must hunt down the enemy on the island of Blackreef, with the peculiarity that it is immersed in a time loop, which will memorize and repeat the levels until we can kill all the enemies in the stipulated time. Although not all follow the same pattern of movements and can even blend in with other inhabitants of the region. And you can even invade the games of other players.
Announced at the State of Play launch of PS5 games, Deathloop is exclusive to consoles – temporarily at least – and will also feature a PC version.
