Dying Light 2’s plot will have some important decision-making elements, which is why Techland had to explain how someone (who both plays the game in solo and co-op) will be affected in this zombie parkour title.

„The host makes all the decisions, and our players experience them. So you can witness how the world of the host changes as a result of their choices, and you can compare this outcome to your world. So all choices and their consequences stay with the host—they don’t affect your solo campaign, but you get to keep all the player progress you’ve made and all the loot you’ve found,” Lukasz Burdka, Dying Light 2: Stay Human’s senior technology programmer, explained to Game Informer.

In other words, if you aren’t interested in playing with others, you don’t get to legally cheat, as you can play a lot in co-op and then continue your offline playthrough with all the skills and items you have obtained during your co-op session. That is Techland’s way of incentivising players to play together.

The interview also talked about how daytime will still be a dangerous time, despite the zombies not being out in the open at this time of the day: „The day is still very scary. You have to remember, humans, fight with humans in this world. After all, it’s people [who] are the most ruthless. So you will encounter bandits, renegades, and other very dangerous factions, so you always need to keep on your toes.”

Dying Light 2: Stay Human is planned to launch on December 7 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. However, we have our suspicion that Techland could be delaying the game to 2022… we’ll see in a few months.
