Chris Bruzzo says that several Electronic Arts employees have been fired in recent years for inappropriate behaviour.
Unfortunately, especially during the last months, we have had to echo unpleasant situations due to reports of toxic behaviour or abuse in large companies like Ubisoft or Activision Blizzard. Sadly, it is something that is in society and is trying to eradicate. Chris Bruzzo, president of marketing and positive gaming at EA, another industry giant, spoke about the matter in a statement to the GamesIndustry portal.
Bruzzo clarifies that, currently, his company is not in situations such as those mentioned previously. Still, he also indicates that toxic environments are inevitable in large companies and that action must be taken to cut such attitudes quickly. “We are a community with more than 10,000 employees. Will we have problems? Probably. In a firm with that size, it is something that practically cannot be avoided”, he affirms. “Maybe in two weeks, we will hear that someone at EA has misbehaved.”
The manager believes that, as they do when analyzing the behaviour of toxic players, within the company it is necessary to have a team that investigates the complaints received. “We have laid off several employees in recent years due to similar situations, “ says Bruzzo, who also states that surveys and courses are regularly conducted within EA to determine the code of conduct. And that they also have an internal platform to address these issues and an external line to hear advice outside of Electronic Arts itself.
On the other hand, Bruzzo also addresses the problem of lack of diversity, stating that “it will take a long time to change this, but we are making great progress. “ It also counts that there are 50% of women in leadership positions and that the number of Hispanic employees is also growing, with an increase of 35% in the last two years.
