Call of Duty’s next instalment’s first, PlayStation-exclusive testing, has already come and gone.
Call of Duty: Vanguard’s alpha testing was only available for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 owners a couple of days ago. The emphasis was on the Champion Hill mode, which seems to have taken a cue or two from Counter-Strike’s book (as that’s a game where you can buy weapons and equipment before rounds). Still, the focus of the video below isn’t on this game mode.
We have taken a couple of ElAnalistaDeBits YouTube videos into the news before, and now, the video below is also from this account. It showcases the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 Pro, and PlayStation 4 versions of Call of Duty: Vanguard. (It doesn’t matter what version the base PlayStation 4 is; it explains why you see three video feeds in the comparison.)
“Remember: it is an Alpha, and this data may vary in later versions or updates. All Call of Duty: Vanguard versions (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 Pro, PlayStation 4) use reconstruction rendering to scale the resolution. There are better textures, draw distance and anisotropic filtering on PlayStation 5. The PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 4 Pro do not have dynamic shadows. Some static shadows have also been removed.
The PlayStation 5 has extra reflections on some specific materials, but it is not ray-traced. On PS5, there is a considerably better treatment of depth of field. On the other hand, the PlayStation 4 Pro has problems with this setting,” the comparison claims. So, reconstruction rendering on all platforms; it’s a good way to scale the performance.
Call of Duty: Vanguard, by Sledgehammer Games (makers of Call of Duty: WWII), will launch on November 5 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC (Battle.net), PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
