The online servers for PS3 classic Killzone 2 have been resurrected by a group of fans known as PSONE, aka PlayStation Online Emulated. Guerrilla Games’ first-person shooter went offline in March 2018 alongside Killzone 3.
The group’s goal is to restore classic PlayStation multiplayer to various projects after Sony shut down, with Killzone 2 being an obvious choice due to its popularity among gamers.
PS Online Network Emulated is an ongoing attempt to reactivate the online mode of several PlayStation games. Available since 2002, the PS is a fairly old game console. Despite its age, there are still people who want to play online.
Some love to reminisce about the good old days; others want to enjoy games that simply have no equivalent on more modern consoles. Sony has decided to stop hosting game servers, which has made some games unusable or at least difficult to use.
PSONE has noted that several online features in Killzone 2 will not be available, including:
Community features (clan, mailbox, tournaments)Stats (ribbons, medals, rank, value rank)Trophies – Official dedicated game rooms Secondary badges With stats not available, all players will have the highest rank and purple ribbon.
As for running Killzone 2 multiplayer, it’s as simple as having the following:
Internet access (should allow custom DNS servers) A PlayStation Network account A PlayStation 3 (no jailbreak required as it’s for legitimate consoles) A copy of Killzone 2
Killzone 2 was released for PS3 in early 2009 and was one of the first games announced for the console at E3 2005.
And the original Killzone (the first part) was released in 2004 when even female cosplayers like her could promote games without a problem…
