While the official servers are closed, a group of players decided to create unofficial servers to keep on playing with the PlayStation3 games.
During the PS3 era, many of gamers have enjoyed multiplayer games on various console games. Some of these titles closed their servers years ago, but this has not deterred the community and they have found a new way to play MotorStorm, Killzone 2, Warhawk, SOCOM Confrontation, Twisted Metal Black and Calling All Cars online!
This feat has been accomplished by the PSONE (PlayStation Online Network Emulation) group who have managed to create unofficial servers, without players having to touch the console or game software. However, it should be noted that it is necessary to change some numbers of the main and the secondary DNS, so that the system takes us to these servers away from PlayStation. The group has not yet stopped working, and they are planning to preserve all the entertainment of PS3 titles. PSONE will continue this line with games like Resistance, Wipeout HD and even the PlayStation Home system, which was active during the early years of the console.
Thesixthaxis says PSONE is not accepting donations, as its goal is more conservation-focused than financial. After all, it is no surprise that gamers want to return to the multiplayer section of PS3 games. While Sony has already confirmed the closure of GTA Online servers on the console, which will occur later this year, and decided to end the online of Metal Gear Solid V and Metal Gear Online last summer.
